James Trystan & Ryan Stavrou – Vibrations

This is something I’ve been meaning to review for a while, something fresh by James Trystan & Ryan Stavrou out on Great Stuff Recordings. This release comes in 3 parts; an original mix, a dub mix and a remix by Mario Ochoa. Let’s start from the beginning and check out the original mix. Some really nice laid-back deep drums with an addictive organ chord pattern sitting nicely on top, then comes the breakdown. This tune has a nice male vocal over the organs, an almighty sub-bass sitting under the chords, and a lovely side-chained string sound cutting in and out throughout. Absolute tune! Next up, we’ll check out the Mario Ochoa remix. Now, Mario Ochoa is no stranger to this website as I have reviewed a few of his past releases. His remix kicks off with some skippy 909 drums, a single chord stab and then his signature deep ‘speed garage’ sounding bassline which he has incorporated into a lot of his tracks lately. Eventually this version kicks in to a nice big techy stomper with the original vocal chopped up and used as a stab and a short part of the original chord riff, I thinkit’s safe to say I really like this version too! The dub mix is exactly as it says and is the original version just without vocals, it has just as much of an impact without them so I’ll give it a big thumbs up! Yet another quality release from Great Stuff. Available now, so buy it!

Dave Seaman – Flatter To Deceive

Dave Seaman is a name thats been about for quite a while and this is his debut for Great Stuff Recordings. This one is called ‘Flatter to Deceive’ and as well as the original mix, it has a remix by Seff. The original is a bouncy, sketchy tech house track with some really nice elements. Nice deep bass riff sitting under some big distinctive open hats and some high pitched blips along with a wailing vocal. I really like this! The Seff remix is a bit deeper than the original and also has some really nice elements such as a repetitive sequenced vocal and bass stab which add a really nice rhythm. This version also has a very deep bass riff that would sound amazing on a big club system. Thumbs up from me and I look forward to dropping this in the clubs!

Muzzaik – Gravy EP

Fresh out on Great Stuff Recordings and what an EP this is! There’s two tracks to this release, the first being ‘Gravy’ which is a huge upbeat main room house track. Think big risers, banging drops and a really nice flowing synth pattern and you’re almost there! This tune is so hard to describe and I can’t do it justice in words, you’ll have to listen! The second track is ‘Roar’ and has some nice offbeat bass stabs before a huge riser and then drops into a big shuffly main room tune! I would play both of these out in the clubs. Muzzaik has done it again, this release is amazing!

Mennie & Diavlo – Freaks EP

This is a big room tech house stomper consisting of three huge tracks. First up is the track ‘Freaks’, trust me this tune is massive. Big energetic drums with a deep techy bassline, great breakdown too. Next up is a track called ‘Warp Melody’ and it comes along with an additional edit from Mennie. The original is another main room tech track with a huge breakdown and riser/snare build up, I can definitely imagine this taking the roof off in any big house event. Last up is the Mennie Edit of ‘Warp Melody’ which isn’t too different from the original, a few tweaks perhaps and a slightly different breakdown. Released on Great Stuff Records, it’s a biggie!

Mario Ochoa & DJ PP – Gotcha / Move!

New out on Great Stuff Records, a great EP by DJ PP (Gabriel Rocha) and Mario Ochoa. The first track is a banging tech house track called ‘Gotcha’, it has a nice infectious bassline with some great breakdowns and build ups. Lovely! The second track is ‘Move!’ and this is a nice techno track with a few blippy synths and a brilliant hi-hat pattern. Lots of builds, filters and big bass. One for the gig bag! Happy Days!

Loko – Rollercoaster EP

A huge two track EP released on Great Stuff Records. The first track is ‘Rollercoaster’, it has a nice shuffly drum pattern and a bit of a wobble bass to it. Really nice tune! The second track is ‘International Love’ which has some really nice strings in the breakdown along with some warped bass sounds. A big old skool sound to it, I’m looking forward to playing this out.

Mason – A Girl Like Me

This one came recommended by a good friend, sounding very ‘old skool’ but also very fresh. Most people remember Mason from his ‘Perfect Exceeder’ track back in 2007 but he’s come up with a few belters since then, including this one. A classic and getting a lot of recognition from the big players, check it..
