Groovebox – Freshmaker

Here’s something thats been out just over a week now and it’s absolutely havin’ it on the dancefloors at the moment. A name that is well known to every tech house dj is ‘Groovebox’. I have reviewed a few of his tracks in the past and here’s another to add to his library of massive tunes!

This track features a very well known sample that’s been used on so many big tunes in the past, expertly placed over a huge sub-bass tech bassline and some nice shuffly drums. Groovebox is renowned for supplying short samples to his tracks and I can only comment on what he’s given. If the rest of the track is as good as the short snippet then it’s definitely something worth smashing out in the main room. This is available now on the mighty 1605 label..

Sixteenofive – Platform Vol. 17

Well here’s a tasty four-track release from huge label 1605. This is a label that is absolutely havin’ it at the moment with an army of powerful releases behind them. Lets go through these four tracks individually..

Groovebox & Electronic Empire – Puff Puff Pass – This is a main room tech house track with a nice choppy vocal sat over some big techy hats and a nice bass riff. The track breaks down nicely to just a kick and the vocal with a riser before the big drop, love it!

Xell & Howid – Glost – This builds nicely from the start, has a huge sub bass riff and a constant stabby synth throughout. Really long rising build up with loads of snares and fills then dropping back into the bassline. Nice!

Anti-Slam & W.E.A.P.O.N. – Champion Sound – I love the little vocal in this, and it’s been expertly chopped up. Nice big sub bass after the drop which sits under some big techy drums too, great tune.

Hazzaro – Rock It – Strong drums from the start, into a filtered bass and rising into an electro sounding riff with fusion of male and female vocal snippets. This has a real old skool retro feel to it and although different, is awesome!

Preview: Umek & Groovebox – Sweet Harmony

A very big main room house version of the classic track by Liquid, big build up and a great drop! UMEK & Groovebox have transferred this monster tune into a main room smasher! I’ve got to say, the sample on Soundcloud is only 42 seconds long which isn’t long enough really but you’ll get the picture! This is released on 31st January.. Enjoy!

Groovebox – Fat Like

Groovebox is a name that has had a lot of attention lately, and well deserved too in my opinion. The name of this track describes my feelings towards it. Huge tech house tune, bouncy with a big bassline and looped vocals, definitely a main room club track. This release is perfectly complimented with a remix from Hollen, it’s not as lively as the original but would still stand its ground on a main room dancefloor. Released on Deeperfect, a must for the set!

Phunk Investigation & Groovebox – L.A.

Big & bouncy track with some lovely techy horn stabs. A big one for the clubs I think. This is something fairly new on Tiger Records, if it slipped through your net then grab it now.
