Larry Cadge – To Be Free

Here is something fresh from a producer I have been following for quite a while now, many years in fact! A great track from ‘Larry Cadge’ called ‘To Be Free’, released on his own label ‘Smiley Fingers’.

To me, what makes this track great is the positive feeling it gives off. Some really nice mellow chords, big builds and subtle drops. So many elements kicking in and dropping out. This is one I’d love to play at a big summer outdoor festival where the sun is belting down and the beer is ice cold! If the British weather holds up then I just might get to play it at one this summer!

This is a must have for the dj sets, and it’s part of an EP containing another track too. Get. It. Now..

Larry Cadge – Message / Simple Things

This is the second release I’ve reviewed by Larry Cadge, the first was a while back of an amazing track called Vicious Circle, which I still play out today and it’s still going down well. This time around he has put together two tech house tracks called ‘Message’ & ‘Simple Things’ and released them on the Smiley Fingers label.

Lets kick things off by talking about the track ‘Message’. This is a lovely, deep and bouncy tech track that absolutely rocks on a big sound system. Recommended for the more chilled tech fan as opposed to the big main room banging type. A really nice breakdown featuring a nice sample taken from Barack Obama’s Nowruz address to Iran! Cool vocals and a really cool track.

Next up is ‘Simple Things’, well I instantly loved this tune! Very melodic and every element compliments each other. Some nice swingy tech hats sat over a nice stabby chord pattern and deep bassline riff, with a great breakdown. This one was really well thought out and well produced, hats off to Larry Cadge as he’s done it again! Great release.

Larry Cadge – Vicious Circle

Fresh out on Smiley Fingers is this two-mix release of ‘Vicious Circle’ by ‘Larry Cadge’. The main version is the original mix which to me, is very familiar sounding and sounds a lot like the classic ‘French Kiss’ in the way it builds, the bass patterns etc. I played this version on my radio show on Saturday and it went down a treat with listeners wanting to know what it was. I can’t wait to play this out to a crowd of proper house-heads, I could even squeeze it into an old skool house set and it just works. The next mix is the dub mix which is a lot deeper than the original, some nice bass and low synth stabs, I can definitely imagine this being played in the clubs. I look forward to hearing it out there. Crackin’ release from Larry Cadge and Smiley Fingers, out now! Grab your copy on Beatport..
